A vintage Rolex with its original box, guarantee papers, service history, hangtags, and matching serial numbers is called a 'full set' and can trade at double or more the price of the watch alone. Papers must show a serial number that matches the case, and the retailer stamp and date should be internally consistent. 'Corrected' or 'transferred' papers are common in the market and are worth substantially less than untouched original papers. For high-value vintage references, particularly Daytonas and early Submariners, full-set provenance is often the deciding factor at auction.
